FAQ – Planning Your Egypt Desert Trip

Answers to the questions international travelers ask most before booking a Dune Raider Adventure trip. If you don't see your question here, email us at info@duneraideradventure.com.

Do I need a visa to visit Egypt?

Most travelers, including passport holders from the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Norway, and China, are currently eligible for an Egypt e-Visa (apply online in advance at visa2egypt.gov.eg) or a visa on arrival at Cairo International Airport. Visa rules can change, so please confirm current requirements for your nationality with the official Egyptian government visa portal or your nearest Egyptian embassy/consulate before you travel. Dune Raider Adventure is a tour operator, not a visa authority, and cannot guarantee entry.

When is the best time of year for a desert trip?

October through April is the most comfortable window, with warm days and cool nights. May through September is hot in the day (well over 35°C / 95°F in the open desert), though desert nights stay cool even in summer, so layers matter year-round. We run trips throughout the year — ask us for guidance if you're planning around a specific season.

What should I pack?

  • Layers — a warm layer for desert nights (temperatures can drop sharply after sunset, even in summer) and breathable clothing for daytime heat
  • Closed, comfortable shoes for walking on sand and uneven rock
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen
  • A scarf or buff to keep dust off your face during dune driving
  • A reusable water bottle
  • A basic personal first-aid/medication kit for any condition you manage day-to-day

Do I need previous desert or camping experience?

No prior experience is required, but our multi-day trips involve travel over unpaved desert terrain, several hours in a 4x4 or bus each day, and activities like sandboarding and camping in variable temperatures. Let us know about any medical condition that could affect your participation before booking, and bring any medication you need — full details are in our Terms of Service.

What language do your guides speak?

Our guides lead trips in English.

What's your group size, and is it a private or shared trip?

Every Dune Raider Adventure trip is a private reservation — we don't combine separate bookings into one trip without your prior approval. You can book as a solo traveler (minimum 1 person) or as a group of up to 20 people per trip. Camping nights are always private to your group; hotel and resort nights (used on some Siwa and Full Egypt itineraries) are shared properties, though your room and touring remain private to your booking.

How is pricing shown, and what currency will I pay in?

Prices on this site are shown per person, primarily in USD with indicative EUR and EGP equivalents at the day's exchange rate. Your exact rate is confirmed at booking — contact us to lock in current pricing for your group and season.

What's included and what isn't?

Every trip page lists its own Price Includes / Does Not Include breakdown. As a general rule: transport, guide, listed entrance fees, and listed meals are included; international/domestic flights, Egypt visa fees, travel insurance, gratuities, and personal expenses are not.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations made 7 or more days before your reservation date receive a 50% refund; cancellations made less than 6 days before are non-refundable. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
