About Us
Dune Raider Adventure was started by Kareem Hossam, who grew up on desert trips rather than just hearing about them. His father worked as a desert guide, taking groups out into Egypt's Western Desert years before Kareem picked up a board of his own.
Sandboarding entered the picture on one of those family trips, in 2007. Almost nobody in Egypt had heard of the sport at the time, so Kareem kept at it on his own, then trained formally in the United States. He came home the first certified sandboarding instructor and referee in the Middle East, and the company was formally founded in 2008.
Dune Raider Adventure has been running trips out of Cairo ever since, across the Western Desert oases, Sinai, the Red Sea coast and the Nile Valley, with more than 10,000 clients along the way. Kareem also serves as a representative of the Sand Boarding Union of Egypt, and helped organize Dune Raider Rush — the country's first sandboarding competition, judged by former world champion Erik Johnson.
